Miner and mason charged with wounding, unlawful assault after B-B-Q confrontation

A 25-year-old miner and an 18-year-old mason charged with wounding and unlawful assault were placed on $25,000 and $15,000 bail respectively, by Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond yesterday.

Andel Gibson of Lot 40 ‘A’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, and Mario Shepherd both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Particulars of one charge said that between May 30 and 31 at Go Slow, Georgetown, Gibson unlawfully and maliciously wounded Mario Shepherd.
The other charge stated that on the same day at Go Slow, Georgetown, Shepherd unlawfully assaulted Gibson.
Police Corporal Jomo Nichols, prosecuting, said that both men were at a Bar-B-Que consuming alcohol. Shepherd went to the urinal and passed Gibson who was in the company of a female. He said at the same time Gibson threw a bottle on the road and an argument and scuffle ensued. They reportedly hit each other and Gibson allegedly drew a scissors from his pants waist and dealt a stab to Shepherd.
The prosecutor did not object to either of the duo being granted bail and the case was put off to June 12 for commencement of trial.
