DERRICK Baker, 41, of Number 19 Village, Corentyne, was ordered to post $60,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on a charge of unlawful wounding.Baker is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Neela Moonasaw.

Police Sergeant, Godfrey Playter, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had visited a shop where she intended to purchase a bag of tennis rolls.
However, the defendant allegedly armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt a lash to the virtual complainant’s shoulder, resulting in injuries.

The parties are known to each other, and had a previous misunderstanding, the court was told.
The matter was fixed for May 27 for report.
