KINGSTON Secondary, Carmel Secondary, Chase Academy and South Ruimveldt Secondary registered wins in the Milo-sponsored, Petra-organised Under-20 football tournament, on the third day of action last Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.

The day’s first encounter saw David Rose Secondary fail to rise to the challenge and were beaten by Kingston Secondary 4-1.
Tremaine McCurdy opened the scoring for Kingston in the 14th minute after a first attempt failed. Seven minutes later Nemar Douglas found the back of their opponents’ net, putting Kingston in a commanding position.
As Kingston enjoyed a higher percentage of ball possession it was Vincent Thomas’ turn and he wasted no time in banging one in from just outside the box, sending his team and the sizeable crowd into a frenzy.
Four minutes later and a minute before the halftime whistle sounded Shawn Grovesnor netted one of his own giving the Kingston team an unassailable 4-nil lead.
When the second half started a determined David Rose changed the score line when Sean Murray netted in the 62nd minute.
Minutes later Kingston failed to capitalise on yet another scoring opportunity and as the game progressed and with seconds on the clock Akeem Giddings (70th) handed David Rose their second goal to see the match end 4-2.
Carmel Secondary then took to the field and whipped Richard Ishmael Secondary 2-1 with Marlon Nedd netting both of Carmel’s goals in the 5th and 7th minutes, while Tukwan Gladstone accounted for Richard Ishmael’s lone goal.
Following a short break Chase Academy then registered sweet victory over a hapless Tutorial High 3-0 with a double coming from the boot of Shamar Barrow.
His first came in the 7th minute, with the score line changing in favour of Tutorial High after an own goal by Chase Academy in the 26th minute.
Barrow’s second goal came well into the second half (60th).
In a heated battle, the day’s final match brought together South Ruimveldt Secondary and Christ Church Secondary with both teams showing their worth, but the former prevailed to walk away with a 1-0 lead.
The lone goal came, compliments of Keith Caines in the 30th minute.
