GOING MAD WITH NOISE

I WISH to refer to a letter in the Guyana Chronicle (3.1.2014) captioned: “Not only along Sheriff Street, but all over Kitty as well”, written by a citizen begging and pleading with the authorities to put a full stop to lawlessness, but it seems they are incapable of doing what they are hired to do.This part of your letter caught me when the letter writer said: “No one cares about the citizens of this country. Why are these heartless monsters being allowed to take away people’s health like this? Tonight is another session and Saturday and Sunday and every night these people are allowed to harass and torment others while they and their families are in their homes safe from this torment. Will someone in authority, someone with feelings, I mean someone who has people’s welfare at heart do something about this brutal continuous attack of noise abuse? ”

My God, my family in Kitty said it was so nice and peaceful for Christmas, but then things were building up real massive for Old Year’s night.
My family said they wished they had money to go somewhere else where it would be peaceful and quiet.
The bombs going off, the loud “boom boom” music blasting and then the passing PRIVATE cars with their “boom boom”.
Imagine a car passing at 4 am in Garnett Street, Newtown, Kitty could be heard in Station Street, Kitty.
Why is this happening? My family is pleading with me to write the government since my sister–in-law had to go to the hospital for an ear problem on Old Year’s Night.
My family is very peaceful people and are going mad with the noise.
I feel so sad for my family since we can’t do anything about it.
I have to keep talking to my brother who wanted to take matters into his own hands.
He would be jailed for life if he were allowed to do what he wanted like how others are doing what they want, whenever they want.
Guyana is a sad place to be.
