TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD labourer Quincy July, of Lot 215 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison on Monday when he appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty to answer three charges of forgery. He was not required to plead to the charges which said:
* on Friday, December 27, in Georgetown, with intent to defraud, he uttered a forged document to Roopnarine Tiwari, a Republic Bank cheque for $295,450, in favour of Top Brands, knowing same to be forged;
* the same day, he gave Tiwari, a Republic Bank
cheque for the sum of $295,450, knowing it to be forged,
for delivery of beverages and
* that day, too, he forged a Republic Bank cheque for $295,450 payable to Tiwari, knowing same to be forged.
Police Corporal Renetta Bentham, prosecuting, successfully objected to pre-trial liberty for July, stating that the investigations are incomplete and citing the seriousness of the offences and the penalty attached.
The accused claimed he was helping a friend to deliver some items and a cheque to Palm Court.
He has to be back in court on January 8, 2014.
