A THIRTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist, Navindra Naraiyan, of Bamboo Dam, Sparta Village, was killed Christmas Eve Day, on the La Belle Alliance Public Road, Essequibo Coast, after the 1000 CBR he was riding collided with a speeding car that was turning off into a street.

According to reports, the rider, who was the father of a one-year-old child, had been proceeding to Anna Regina when the collision occurred.
Eyewitness reports said Naraiyan was riding very close behind the motor vehicle and tried to overtake it but crashed after the driver made a sudden right turn to a sand and loam bridge.
The CBR folded on impact and plunged with the car into a nearby trench. The badly injured rider was hurled into the air and landed on the parapet with blood spurting from his mouth, ears and head.

The dead man‘s mother, Savitree (only name given), who was in shock on hearing the dreadful news, said her son had left her home around 10:00 hrs and told her he would be back just now.
She said it is hard to believe those were his last words to her.
The devastated woman, who has another son and a daughter in the United States, said she had already baked Christmas cake for her children and was about to bake a chicken when she received the shocking news of her son’s tragic death.
She said all her Christmas plans are now shattered like a broken mirror which cannot be picked up.
Her son was a carpenter contractor, like his father, and a married father of a little boy who would have celebrated his first birthday on Boxing Day.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
