P&P Insurance Brokers, yesterday, made $1M in donations to 10 charitable organisations to aid in their humanitarian actvities.
The cheques, for $100,000 each, were handed over by Mrs. Ahilia Panday, wife of the Managing Director of P&P Insurance, during a simple ceremony held in the board room of the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), on New Garden Street.The gifts were gratefully and enthusiastically received by the representatives of the following 10 organisations, namely:
* Bless the Children’s Home (Leighton Persaud);
* Canaan Children’s Home ( Sydney Kennard);
* Hauraruni Girls’Home (Deoram Timram);
* Ptolemy Reid Rehab Centre (Anand Mangru);
* Uncle Eddie’s Home (Ms. Hamilton);
* Archer’s Home (Joan Ann Kirton);
* The Dharm Shala (Lyndsley Erskine);
* David Rose School for the Handicapped (Marcelle George);
* Cheshire Homes Guyana (Patricia Bailey) and
* Bright Horizon Family ( Sharon Vansluytman).
Managing Director of P&P Insurance Brokers & Consultants Ltd, Mr. Bish Panday, in brief remarks, said his entity was very happy to make the presentations.
“All of you, in your own way, have been making a positive impact on the lives of the less fortunate and we are happy to contribute to this cause,” he said.
Modest contribution
Agreeing that finance is always a challenge, Panday said he hoped that his company’s modest contribution will assist, especially at this time of year when, those organisations helping the poor and the underprivileged, would, undoubtedly, like to give a little more to those in their care.
P&P has a very good record of helping humanitarian organisations and, through the years, has been reaching out to the community, assisting in various ways.
Yesterday’s gesture was another manifestation of that commitment with which the company hopes to continue in the future, he said.
Mr. Panday commended all the beneficiaries for the great work they have been doing and urged them to continue in this vein. “We, at P&P, will continue to assist, not only those organisations such as yours, but we help in different ways children going to school; children going to lessons and we even help two students going to the University of Guyana,” he said.
He concluded by wishing all the organisations a peaceful Christmas and a happy new year.
