Labourer jailed, fined for cocaine possession

THIRTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD old labourer Mark Simion, of Bush Lot Village, Essequibo Coast, was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $30,000 on Wednesday for drug trafficking.

He appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at Anna Regina Court and pleaded guilty to the November 18 offence.
Police on patrol in Bush Lot saw the defendant acting in a suspicious manner and stopped him.
A search of his person yielded three grammes of cocaine in a pants pocket and he admitted possession of the narcotic.
