PEOPLE’S Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) member, Ms. Juliet Nandranie Coonjah has been sworn in as a new Councillor of the Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Regional Democratic Council (RDC).

She took the oath at the start of the statutory meeting of the Council, in the Regional Boardroom at Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast, last week Tuesday.
Coonjah is a member of the Executive Committee of the Women’s Progressive Organisation (WPO) an arm of the ruling PPP.
The oath was administered by the Clerk of the RDC, Mr. Sunil Singh in the presence of all Councillors.
Coonjah has replaced Ms. Wazeeda Bacchus, who resigned some months ago for personal reasons.
Region 2 Chairman, Mr. Parmanand Persaud and Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo both welcomed the new Councillor to RDC.
The Chairman said Coonjah, who served as a Councillor on the RDC some years ago, has a wealth of experience and will contribute positively towards development in the region.
