EMPRETEC Guyana Inc. will be introducing a new business model called ‘Supply Chain Management Programme’ for management personnel, senior staff and all other persons involved in purchasing and supplying functions.
The introduction is to be done at a series of workshops, the first of which would be facilitated by specially trained lecturers/consultants to undertake and conduct the training.
It would be conducted on October 29 and 30 in the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) at Main and New Market Streets, Georgetown, from 08:30hrs to 16:30hrs.
Registration for attendance is currently in progress.
That workshop is designed to, in a unique way; introduce the concept and benefits of implementing this process.
Empretec said management must recognise that the ultimate success of any organisation depends on the ability to integrate the company’s network of business relationships in a mutually beneficial way.
It added that successful supply chain management requires cross-functional integration within the firm and across the network of firms that form the supply chain of a product or service provided.
That is focused on the improvements in performance that result from better management of key relationships. By understanding the supply chain management processes and how they should be implemented, management will better understand the value of more integrated supply chains and how this integration will lead to increased shareholder value, sustainable competitive advantage and increased profits, a release stated.
VALUABLE RESOURCES
It added that valuable resources are often wasted when supply chains are not integrated, appropriately streamlined and managed.
Globally, an increasingly large number of companies are implementing this successful business model of supply chain management, because of the guaranteed long term benefits for increased value and profitability, Empretec said.
Additionally, Empretec Guyana will be conducting a record keeping and financial management workshop, targeting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, under the theme ‘Managing Your Finances to Grow Your Business’.
The release noted that record keeping is a very critical component for successfully operating any business, as it involves proper systems of maintaining business documents, inclusive of bills and receipts, so that such records can be found easily and quickly.
On completion of this training, participants should be able to have better internal control of their businesses; work more efficiently; more easily prepare financial statements; more easily assess the financial situation of their businesses; better control their cash flow; make more informed business decisions; have quick access to important information; have easier access to financing and improve profitability and growth.
Participants are encouraged to bring along their bills and receipts for practical exercises and certificates of participation will be issued to each of those who attend the workshop.
Empretec recalled that, on June 13, 2003, the Government of Guyana, the United Nations and the Guyana Manufacturers’ Association launched the Empretec Guyana Project which was designed to equip small business operators with entrepreneurial skills to effectively execute profitable business ventures.
Today, Empretec has evolved into a not for profit institution operating through licence from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), with a focus on entrepreneurship and business development training.
