GPHC mounts probe into death of Bachelor’s Adventure woman – died while delivering twins

THE  Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) is at present  investigating the death of 40-year-old Sharon Bowman of Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara.

altThis announcement from the hospital comes ten days after demands by relatives of Bowman for the GPHC to explain how the woman died.
Bowman died on September 17 at the institution while delivering twins, more than a week after being admitted.
Family members believe that induced labour was responsible for her death. However the cause of death following an autopsy has been documented as severe pneumonia.
Relatives have since discarded the cause of death, saying that the woman was very healthy prior to her admittance to the institution. The twin were delivered and are  alive.
The GPHC has promised to make public the results of its findings and extends sincere condolences to the family of the late Sharon Bowman.
Meanwhile the GPHC said  that there has been another maternal death at the institution.

The patient, Fadhna Dutchin, 25, who was transferred on September 24, 2013 from the Female Medical Ward to the Intensive Care Unit, succumbed at 01.30 hrs on Saturday at the institution.
However, details are sketchy as to how Dutchin died. Hospital officials have said that investigations will also be launched into this woman’s death and the findings made public after the investigation is completed.
