MYSORE, India – Fast bowler Sheldon Cotterell has sustained an injury and will return from the West Indies A Team tour of India. The 24-year-old left-arm pacer was suffering from pain in the left knee and did not play and will return to Jamaica to continue his rehabilitation.
Fidel Edwards has been named as the replacement. Edwards, 31, is an experienced international player. He has played 55 Test matches, 50 One-Day Internationals and 20 T20 Internationals.
“It was devastating blow when we found out that Sheldon was injured and could not play. He is one of the most promising quick bowlers we have in the West Indies. We were looking forward to seeing him perform well on this tour for West Indies A Team, but unfortunately he has been ruled out due to injury,” team manager Lockhart Sebastien said.
“He was impressive in recent months, especially in the Caribbean Premier League and this was a great chance for him to show his skills again. We are still confident we have the bowlers to do the job and we expect the team to continue doing well on this tour.”
West Indies A Team won the one-day series 2-1, but lost the one-off Twenty20, while the two teams are currently playing the first of three four-day first-class matches.
