Rumour of a low-cost iPhone was in circulation for ages, but only picked up steam this year. If Apple really wants to compete against smartphone behemoth, Samsung, the theory goes, it needs to branch out into emerging markets, and a lower-cost iPhone might be the ticket. More recently, the “iPhone 5C” moniker was attached to the device, with the “C” referring to the various colour (Not ‘cheap’!) options for the smartphone.
Pre-ordering began on September 13, and will arrive in stores one week after in the U.S., Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
Apple said it normally offers a price reduction on older iPhones when unveiling an updated model, but the business has become so large that it has decided to go a different route with the 5C. The colours in the new iOS 7 will mesh well with the colours on the 5C.
Still, Apple will offer an 8GB version of the iPhone 4S for free, starting September 20. Too bad for “apple” lovers in Guyana!
Apple said the device, which sports a 4-inch Retina display, is made of a hard-coated polycarbonate material. The steel-reinforced structure is also multiband antenna. There’s an 8-megapixel iSight camera, and a new FaceTime HD front camera.
The 5C includes an integrated touch layer, and will run Apple’s A6 chip. The battery inside the 5C is slightly larger than the iPhone 5. Apple promised more LTE bands than any other smartphones.
Existing iOS users will be eligible for a free upgrade to ios7 as of September 18, 2013.
Every feature Apple added to iPhone must answer ‘yes’ to one question: Will it make the experience better? So, the colours of iPhone 5C received the same intense consideration Apple applies to everything it makes. Apple has even designed the Home screen and wallpaper colours to complement the exterior. As a result, using iPhone is that much more engaging and delightful.
With an all-new design, this is iPhone as you’ve never seen it! Or held it!
Oh, how quickly things change! Add one of the six Apple designed cases to your iPhone 5c, and it instantly goes from colourfully cool to impossible to ignore. The case design allows the colour underneath to show through, creating 30 fun possibilities. So the iPhone 5c Case does more than just protect your phone: It helps it stand out! And it helps you make it yours!
Launch your favourite apps. Load your favourite blog. Download and watch the jaw-dropping video that just showed up in your inbox. Power through games with console-level graphics. Do all the things you love doing on iPhone… At the speeds you’ve come to expect.
The A6 chip is designed to be extremely energy-efficient, so you can spend your day taking advantage of all the features and ‘apps’ on your iPhone without worrying about battery life.
The 8MP iSight camera delivers startlingly sharp photo quality, thanks to features like a sophisticated five element lens.
iPhone 5c also comes with a new Camera ‘app’ that raises your photography game. Now you can shoot images in a square format, and choose from eight live filters than can be applied before or after you take your photo. Use the Instant filter to give a group shot at the beach a vintage colour look. Make a sunset even more vivid with the Chrome filter. Or choose ‘Noir’ to capture a self-portrait in dramatic black-and-white.
Now, when you record video in 1080p HD, the new 3x zoom feature lets you get in tighter on your subject. Video image stabilization helps smooth out shaky footage from your high adrenaline moments. (Running of the Bulls, anyone?) Face detection for up to 10 faces makes sure nobody gets lost in the crowd. And the ability to take still photos while recording video comes in handy when you want to tell that story within a story.
New FaceTime HD camera- iPhone 5c comes with a new FaceTime HD camera. Larger pixels and an improved backside illumination sensor give it increased sensitivity in low light — great for, say, letting your friend back on the East Coast experience a West Coast sunset with you. You can also make audio only FaceTime calls with clearer sound than even wideband audio.
Cleaner, simpler icons- An interface that feels fluid and alive. And new features that make the most of the technology inside. The world’s most advanced mobile OS is the perfect companion to the most colorful iPhone yet.
Schedule a meeting- Listen to your chillout playlist during your commute. Even remind yourself to check the forecast before your flight to Miami. Whatever you need — or want — to do, iPhone 5c comes equipped with ‘apps’ to make it happen.
Have more fun with iPhoto and iMovie- Be more productive with Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. Explore your favorite genres with Podcasts and iBooks. Do even more with iPhone 5c, one free download at a time.
