Demerara Distillers Limited, under its flagship brand, El Dorado, was the official spirit of the inaugural Limacol CPL T20 tournament being played in six countries across the Caribbean.
Dubbed the biggest sporting party, the tournament was contested by six (6) Caribbean nations, with players coming from international teams.
As the official spirit of the tournament, DDL was allowed to host promotions to reward El Dorado Cricket fans as well as to get them excited about the tournament.
During the cricket period, several on-premises promotions were held at retail accounts across the country, and El Dorado cricket fans were treated to bar specials, free ticket giveaways, and El Dorado prizes. From these promotions, eight lucky persons and a guest won a trip to see the second semi-final and final games, which were played in Trinidad on August 23/24.
Winning the trip to Trinidad was very simple. Consumers were required to purchase either an El Dorado 12 or 15-Year-Old Super Premium rum, place their contact information on their receipts, and place same in entry boxes provided.
The promotion began on August 5 and concluded on August 20, and saw several hundred persons participating. However, only seven winners were selected: Savita Jardine of 14 Enachu Street, Section K, Campbellville; Lilowtie Singh of 294 Fourth Street, Cummings Lodge, ECD; Bissoon Ramnarine of 9 Rainbow City, Mackenzie; Anjanie Narayan, Hema Sharmoon of 67 Garnett St., Newtown, Rawle Drupaul of 31 Fifth Avenue, Onderneeming; and Prem Raghubeer of 60 Canje Street, Section K, Campbellville.
Fans at the local games were not left out, as another promotion was planned for one excited cricket fan. Persons were encouraged to participate in the “El Dorado Express Yourself Competition”, where they were asked to come as an El Dorado canvas and have their photos taken by the El Dorado photographer. Mr. Narine Ramroop was adjudged the winner of that promotion.
Winners of the promotions each received two airline tickets, accommodation at the Hilton Hotel, four cricket tickets, and spending money. They departed Guyana on August 23 and returned on August 25.
