“This should brighten everyone’s day,” the invitation reads. Rumours about the event emerged last month, citing sources familiar with Apple’s plans, and reporting that Apple would be unveiling the next edition of the iPhone on that date. September 11 is an unforgettable day in the United States of America; a day when one of the most powerful countries on earth became ‘dark’ with the demolishing of the World Trade Centre. Can Apple shine and bring some colour on September 10? Let’s watch and hope they do.
The invitation features a white Apple logo against a background of colourful circles, lending credibility to the rumours that the next iPhone, widely referred to as the iPhone 5S, will come in several new colours.Whoopie! In recent weeks, rumours have been swirling that the iPhone 5S will come in gold and graphite colour options, alongside the existing white and black models.
Buzzes about the gold iPhone ramped up last month when several credible news outlets confirmed that Apple will indeed add a champagne-hued colour option to its iPhone line-up. Other iPhone 5S rumours tip a new A7 chip and a convex home button with a space for a fingerprint sensor.
The colourful circles may also be a nod to the iPhone’s lower-cost cousin, dubbed the iPhone 5C, which Apple is also whispered to be prepping for release. According to recent reports, the iPhone 5C may be priced at around $399 off-contract and come with at least five multi-coloured back enclosures, including blue, red, yellow, green, and white.
Apple lovers claimed that the California-based company wanted to launch the low-cost version of its iPhone 5 handset to compete with known rivals-Samsung. It will be the first time in Apple’s iPhone history that the company has unveiled two handsets in the same month.
This glorious unveiling will put the next-generation iPhone two days short of a full year since the iPhone 5 was revealed. The new iPhones will be on sale around 10 days later, as has been the case in previous years.
