GCCI shares its Competitiveness Manifesto with UG

REPRESENTATIVES of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), led by its President Mr. Clinton Urling, met with the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Guyana Dr. Jacob Opadeyi on Tuesday last.

altThe Chamber shared its Competitiveness Manifesto with the VC and expressed its desire to work with the university in contributing to lowering the barriers to competitiveness that are identified in the document.
The Chamber President also reiterated the Chamber’s position that it would like to see the transformation of the University of Guyana into a well-managed, well-financed, dynamic and professional organisation that is recognised as a hub for national research and development and as a centre for producing a competent and qualified skilled labour force that meets the needs of our rapidly evolving private sector.
The VC discussed some of the initiatives being pursued by the university and outlined some of the challenges it faces. A statement from the GCCI said Dr Opadeyi also proposed areas in which the institution can collaborate with the private sector to enhance the university.
