Pakistan take on Guyana team in warm-up match today

THE touring Pakistan cricketers take on the Guyana team today at the GCC ground, Bourda, in their first warm-up match ahead of their ODI series against the West Indies which starts on Sunday at the Guyana National Stadium.
The number sixth-ranked team arrived in

altGuyana, Monday night, ahead of their matches against the Maroon Boys (No. 7) on Sunday, July 14 and Tuesday July 16, both at the national stadium.
These two matches will be followed by the final three that round out the five-match series to be concluded in St Lucia.
Yesterday afternoon, the Pakistanis underwent a light training session at the Guyana National Stadium. However, up to press time, the team was unavailable for a comment.
Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal  have been recalled to Pakistan’s ODI and T20 squads while wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and all-rounder Shoaib Malik have been dropped from the Champions Trophy Squad.
Fast bowler Umar Gul, who last played in March during the South Africa tour, was sidelined again as he had not yet recovered from his knee surgery.alt
The ODI squad features the uncapped 21-year-old wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, as a backup to Akmal, who was picked as the first-choice wicketkeeper. Ahmed Shehzad, the opening batsman, has been recalled to both squads.
Pakistan were let down by their senior batsmen in the Champions Trophy in England as the side failed to pass 200 in their three games – the third match against India was rain-affected – only to be eliminated from the group stage.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day the Guyana national team had their final training session before today’s match under the watchful eyes of coach Esaun Crandon and chief selector Rayon Griffith, at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground.
Griffith stated that he expects the team to put up a good performance if the senior players lead from the front.
With several senior players and former Under-19 players, the West Indies squad is quite formidable.
Pakistan’s squad: Misbah-ul-Hah (captain), Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shezad, Asad Ali, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Rizwan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, Umar Amin and Wahab Riaz.
The Guyana team reads: Veerasammy Permaul (captain), Trevon Griffith, Leon Johnson, Steven Jacobs, Christopher Barnwell, Narsingh Deonarine, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Devendra Bishoo, Rajiv Ivan, Paul Wintz, Keon Joseph, Zaheer Mohammed, Anthony Bramble (wkp.) and Assad Fudadin.
