Mon Repos man dies after hit by car, driver runs away – Phoenix Park man dies after crashing motorcycle

JAGDEO Thakurdeen, 37, of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, is the latest road fatality after he was struck by a motorcar while walking along the Good Hope Railway Embankment, also on the East Coast of Demerara,  on June 30, 2013.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene and is yet to be arrested.
Police said that the accident happened at about 21:55 hrs, and Thakurdeen was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Investigations are in progress.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, at about 17:30 hrs on June 30, 2013, Jerome Hackett, 60, of Phoenix Park, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was driving his motorcycle along the Den Amstel Public Road, West Coast Demerara, when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a concrete bridge.
He received injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH).
