Injured Dhoni ruled out of tri-series … Virat Kohli takes over as captain

INDIA captain MS Dhoni has been ruled out of the West Indies tri-series after he injured his right hamstring during his team’s one-wicket loss against West Indies on Sunday..

Dhoni received treatment on the field during his innings of 27 and did not take the field in the second innings. He may also be unavailable for the five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe which begins on July 24 in Harare.
Ambati Rayudu, the Baroda batsman, has been named Dhoni’s replacement. Rayudu, who is yet to debut for India in international cricket, has scored 1 824 runs, including one century and 14 fifties, in List-A cricket at an average of 35.07. He had a prolific domestic season this year.
He scored 666 runs in the Ranji Trophy at 60.54, with a hundred and seven fifties. He represented Rest of India in the Irani Cup this year against Mumbai and scored 51 and 156 not out. In the Deodhar Trophy final, he was the top-scorer with an unbeaten 78 that helped West Zone chase 290 against North Zone.
Virat Kohli, who captained India in Dhoni’s absence in the second innings at Sabina Park on Sunday, will lead the team in the remaining matches while Dinesh Karthik will continue to keep wicket. (ESPN Cricinfo)
