CARLYLE Barton, of Lot 309 Hadfield Street, Georgetown, the accused shooter of 39-year-old Shawn Nelson, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Wednesday, to get a date for the preliminary inquiry (PI) into his murder charge. Police Inspector Steven Telford, prosecuting, informed the court that the prosecution has 11 witnesses and will be presenting nine of them.
Nelson was shot last May 27 on Orange Walk, also in the city, while walking on his way to work and he died at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Defence counsel, Mark Waldron requested an early start to the proceedings and the magistrate scheduled the beginning for July 9, when the 23-year-old cricketer is to be back in court.
