THIS truck, transporting sand on Tuesday, was stuck on Congress Drive in South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, when its left rear wheel sank into a deep hole.
The driver was approaching his destination where he was going to deliver a load of sand when he got into the rut around 15:00 hrs. The distraught man had come all the way from the Soesdyke/Linden Highway without prior incident and, probably, regretted that he had to enter either North or South Ruimveldt, given the condition of roads in that part of the city.
He tried contacting his employer, who lives at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, but, after one hour, he still did not get help.
But he kept the faith and waited in the hot sun until he eventually secured assistance that literally pulled him and the truck out of the rut.
