Minister Rohee to attend conference at IDB HQ on evaluating public policies on crime and violence

HOME Affairs Minister Clement Rohee has been invited by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to attend a conference at IDB Headquarters in Washington DC, United States of America (USA) over the period June 19/20, 2013. The conference would be focused on ‘Filling the Gaps: Using Data to Design, Implement and Evaluate Public Policies on Crime and Violence’, and an

invitation to the conference has been extended to all countries comprising the Caribbean Country Department of the IDB (the Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago), and that address citizen security and/or the prevention of violence within the home.

The objective of the conference is to share transformative experiences within and without the Caribbean region in using data for policy design and evaluation.

The conference will also provide opportunity to explore possibilities for collaboration with the IDB in this important area of citizen security.

IDB President Mr. Luis Alberto Moreno will address the conference.

Accompanying Minister Rohee to the conference are Ms. Nkasi Nedd, Systems Development Officer of the Home Affairs Ministry, who is responsible for developing computer models to combat crime and violence; and Mr. Wentworth Tanner, Director of Social Services in the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security.
