Rasville 33rd anniversary marked by medical outreach

THE Ministry of Health, to mark the 33rd anniversary of Rasville, conducted a four-day medical outreach in the Georgetown community.

altIt took the form of delivering health services to the residents through a variety of tests and providing medication for ailments.
The beneficiaries were afforded blood pressure and diabetes testing, VIA screening and general checks, with handouts distributed to sensitise the recipients on medical issues.
Inter-Ministerial Coordinator at the Ministry of Health, Mr Seewchan, said during the exercise that, when the request was made to the ministry for it to be done in Rasville, Roxanne Burnham Gardens, coinciding with a five-day celebration, Minister of Health Dr. Bheri Ramsaran gave his support.
More medical practitioners will be going into the area and providing medical attention, Seewchan said.
He said the Government of Guyana and the Health Ministry will continue to work with communities on such initiatives and made a plea for more such requests, so the  ministry can form better health relationships.
“We’re very pleased to coordinate, not only within the Rasville community, but other communities within the administrative regions to bring the kind of quality health care that is needed to the residents,” he added.
Rasville pioneer Roland Benjamin pointed out that, with the celebration of the village’s 33rd anniversary, there will be five days of activities.
He expressed the hope that the medical visit would become an annual occurrence in the community.
Meanwhile, other residents said they were satisfied with the services delivered and agreed with the suggestion that it be a continuous activity.
