Miner slain over tea preparation, boat captain perishes in two-boat collision

Police are investigating the murder of Oral Norton, 22, of Moruca, North West District (NWD), which occurred at about 09:00 hrs last Friday at Big Creek, also in NWD.
Norton and the suspect were working in a mining pit when he was attacked by the suspect and chopped about the body.

According to reports the deceased had prepared tea using a bark during May this year, and the suspect had become ill after consumption. The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Meanwhile, investigations are being conducted into a collision of two boats plying the Supenaam/Parika route that occurred at about 16:45 hrs last Friday, resulting  in the death of boat captain Ganesh Roopnarine, 29, of West Coast Demerara.
