Foreign-based Guyanese, like their local counterparts, have been waiting for this moment to finalise their summer plans and book their respective flights home for the big bash.
The organizers have promised that there will be new additions this year, among which are a ski Show, a Biker’s Fest event, Food/Local Night, and a Football match between two big local teams.
As has happened in previous years, there will be the Jazz Night and Fashion Show, Kids Zone, the Miss Jamzone International Pageant, the Regional Night Concert and the International Night Concert.
However, Hits and Jams is not ready to let the headlining acts out of the bag, but has promised that the main act for this year’s International Night has been secured, and patrons can look forward to a top class artiste who has stormed the music scene.
As regards the Regional Night Concert, partygoers can anticipate outstanding singers and musicians who are sure to bring that Caribbean flare to the table. With several acts booked for this event, it will be an evening of Soca, Dancehall, Reggae and Chutney, and will be sure to keep fans gyrating all through the night.
From the time Jamzone has been introduced, in 2001, to the present, this event has undergone several evolutionary stages, and has grown from a simple one-day beach event to a ten-day affair, with events ranging from a jazz festival to the biggest international concerts, to the most attractive of sporting events.
History was made in the local entertainment industry in 2009 when three consecutive days of super concerts were hosted at the Guyana National Stadium, where the Caribbean’s most prolific artistes performed.
As the years rolled on, international acts were added to the roster of activities, the first being R&B Singer/ Songwriter Neyo. Hits and Jams has since brought to Guyana R&B Singer/Songwriter Trey Songz, Rapper/Songwriter Eve, and Hip Hop Recording Artiste Rick Ross.
The Ministry of Tourism has accredited Jamzone as a local annual calendar festival which serves to provide both domestic and international tourists with wholesome entertainment during the August holiday, known internationally as the ‘summer’ vacation.
Hits and Jams boasts that with so many attractions wrapped up into ten days of fun and exciting events, the event is of mutual benefit to Guyanese and tourists, as both benefit from high quality entertainment at very affordable rates.
