Fly Jamaica to be here by end of July –in time for Caribbean Premier League

FLY Jamaica is expected to start operations in Guyana by the end of July, and will be transporting passengers to New York, Canada and Caribbean countries, according to acting Minister of Tourism Irfaan Ali.

Minister Ali made this disclosure Thursday in an exclusive interview with the Guyana Chronicle. He further stated that he is happy that the airline has been given the ‘green light’ to operate here and their arrival is very timely, as the peak season will be commencing soon.
“We always have a lot of Guyanese returning back home around that time and the airline industry is very busy,” Minister Ali said.

Caribbean Premier League
He noted further that the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will definitely be a big event in Guyana and the Caribbean as a whole. “We know for a fact that the CPL will certainly bring in persons from the Diaspora and therefore we will need travel agents to be able to transport those persons to Guyana,” Ali said.
He also noted that the tourism industry will be booming during that period and the tourism ministry, along with other agencies, will do everything to make tourists visiting here for the CPL feel at home while showing them the beautiful country that Guyana is.
