THE Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that 15 Guyana Police Force (GPF) ranks and six from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) were, recently, selected for overseas training.
The announcement said some of the persons have already undergone courses abroad while others will attend, shortly.
In the GPF, Senior Superintendent Leslie James, Deputy Superintendent Michael Kingston and Inspector Mitchell Caesar attended a course on ‘Criminal Gangs/Organised Crime Investigations’ in Port-of- Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from May 13 to 18.
Superintendent L. Lord, Cadet Officers A. Dass and K. Whittaker were coursed on ‘Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Criminal Protection of Transport Infrastructure’ at the Nizhny Novgorod Academy of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia from May 14 to May 29.
Inspectors Rabindra Persaud and Chabhinauth Singh and Sergeant Leslie Eastman were in attendance at a course on ‘Intelligence Gathering for Law Enforcement’ in Port-of-Spain, from May 20 to 24.
In Russia
Corporal Hossannah, Constables Batson and De Putron are to attend a course on ‘The Professional Retraining of Canine Handlers of Foreign Countries and Special Training of Dogs to Search and Detect Explosives, Explosive Devices, Weapons and Ammunition’, also at the Nizhny Novgorod Academy in Russia, from June 1 to October 16.
Corporals Curtis Cort and Lalbachan Dyal and Lance Corporal Kurt Williams are going on a course in ‘Crime Scene Investigations and Practicum’ in Port-of-Spain, too, from June 24 to 28.
From CANU, Intelligence Officers Sanjay Shew and Julyian Ram participated in a course on ‘Criminal Gangs/Organised Crime Investigations’ in Port-of-Spain, from May 13 to 18.
Shew and another intelligence officer, Robin Williams took part in a course on ‘Intelligence Gathering for Law Enforcement’ in Port-of-Spain, as well, from May 20 to 24.
Another course on ‘Crime Scene Investigations and Practicum’ in Port-of-Spain, will be attended by, other intelligence officers, Donald Downer and Rayon Samuels from June 24 to 28.
