Man finds innovative uses for ex-wife’s wedding gown

TALK about making lemonade when life throws you some lemons! One really enterprising chap, whom I figure must have some Guyanese blood in him, really found a way to have fun and make some money when his wife left him after twelve years of marriage, and cleaned him out in the process.

altShe made the mistake of refusing to take her wedding dress with her, even though he’d asked her to. She told the guy he could do “Whatever the $%^@# you want” with it, according to the story he told to Business Insider Reporter, Mandi Woodruff.
While most men would have burned the pristinely preserved gown, Kevin Cotter decided to make full use of it; more than a hundred uses, in fact. While it is a pity his marriage didn’t last, his ingenuity is hilarious.
The dress had cost a grand ($1000), and his family started joking about ways he could repurpose the gown. It seemed like such a waste to have it just sitting in storage. One day, his brother, Colin, encouraged him to bring it on a fishing trip, and it was on this trip that it came out of its fancy box and was put to work.alt
It became a floor mat outside his buddy’s camper; and later, a sleeping bag. From there, the ideas started to snowball. They started a blog chronicling the project, which became super popular, and it wasn’t long before he developed a massive following. A book deal soon followed, and Cotter celebrated the release of ‘101 Uses For My Ex-Wife’s Wedding Dress’, which is available on Amazon.com.
Despite his success, Cotter said the project had nothing to do with revenge or bitterness. It was about creating something light out of a time that could have been quite dark.

Among the uses he has found are a zombie bride costume for Halloween, a scarecrow, a punching bag, a yoga mat, a altbarber’s cape, sports banner, hammock, mosquito net and car cover.
Yes, it is the same dress. I finally became convinced, as you can literally see it getting grimier and holier for the later projects.
You can see ten of the uses illustrated on www.oddee.com  filed on 2013/05/29 under Strange Stories and links to his personal blog to see 100 of the 101 uses.
