Personal family issues delaying Nasir soup kitchen project – widow Annetta Nasir

ISSUES that arose since the death of her husband, Naeem Nasir has affected the soup kitchen project on Brickdam, next to the Palms Geriatric Home in Georgetown, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bakewell, Mrs. Annetta Nasir said yesterday.

altShe told the Guyana Chronicle, in a telephone interview, that the family has some personal matters to deal with and she hopes that will be done soon, so that work can continue on the building.
The widow said it was her husband’s dream to establish the facility and she will try, to the best of her ability, to make it a reality.
Nasir said she does not want to give an exact date when the place will be opened because there are still a lot of works to be done, including its enclosure, tiling and sourcing of equipment.
But her hope is that it will be functioning before year-end, with the beneficiaries having access to, among other amenities,  bathroom and shower, personal attention, change of clothing and free food, served between 11:00 hrs and 15:00 hrs daily. Take away meals would also be provided.
