A grandfather of Westbury Housing Scheme on the Essequibo Coast has been detained by police for allegedly raping his eight-year-old grand-daughter.
The matter reportedly came to light after the primary school child told a friend what her grandfather had done to her and the friend reported the matter to a teacher, who immediately took action.
The Region 2 Welfare Department is currently investigating the matter. The grandfather is expected to be charged

shortly, but investigations are currently ongoing.
