DIGICEL Guyana in celebration of Linden Town Week on Friday visited the community in which they held their second live broadcast of the “Digicel Morning Vibes” radio programme, a Blackberry and Data Clinic and also hosted a brunch for senior citizens.
The three projects were successfully rolled out in the mining community in which the “Digicel Morning Vibes” radio programme was the first hosted by Disc Jockey (DJ) Casual Armstrong, Michelle King “Big Red”, Digicel ambassadors, Tamika Henry and DJ Seen Up (Dread).
The live broadcast started at 06: 00 hours at the Linden Digicel Store located at Amelia’s Ward minibus park and was well received as scores of customers walked into the store and were able to interact with the Digicel team and many won prizes.
Speaking about the “Digicel Morning Vibes” Advertising Manager, Ramesh Rupchand told the Guyana Chronicle that that it is their very first outside live broadcast and their second because their first was done at the City Mall for the launching of the Blackberry Z 10 in Georgetown.
He added that Digicel is very pleased with the response in Linden and they are happy to serve the people of that community in which they got to meet the DJs and talk to them on a live radio programme.
That radio programme finished at 09:00 hours. Thereafter, Digicel held a feeding programme in which a brunch for 300 senior citizens rolled off smoothly.
This took place at Watooka House where the elderly were catered for and served by the Digicel team including, managers, staffers and DJs.
They were also entertained with a song by Michelle King “Big Red” and greeted by DJ Casual, who motivated the elderly to dance and sing along to karaoke songs.
Digicel Sales and Distribution Manager, Nalini Vieira on Friday told the Guyana Chronicle that they have focused a lot on children, sports, youth development among other things but they wanted to do something for the senior citizens.
She noted that as such they took the event to Linden where they were happy to serve the older folks to a brunch and dubbed the event “extraordinary” as they poured into Watooka House by the dozens.
Several senior citizens thanked Digicel Guyana for the gesture and were very pleased on Friday as the brunch went on past midday.
Digicel Guyana also held a Blackberry and Data Clinic on Friday at the store in Linden where residents took full advantage of the services offered.
