Watson powers Royals to success over Sunrisers

SHANE Watson’s 98 helped Rajasthan Royals defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the IPL.

The Australian all-rounder’s unbeaten knock inspired the Royals to securing victory with 13 balls to spare, though he missed out on a century by hammering a four instead of a six as he hit the winning runs.
Watson hit 13 fours and four sixes during his 53-ball innings, with support from Rahun Dravid’s 36 and his unblemished partner Stuart Binny, who chipped in with nine.
Rajasthan’s paceman James Faulkner had bowled his way to five wickets during Hyderabad’s innings, reducing them to 19-5 at one point.
But the Sunrisers hit back to amass 144 for nine from their 20 overs, a total that had looked defendable until Watson’s blazing heroics.
“In the end, we got the job done,” said winning skipper Rahul Dravid. “It was disappointing we let them get 144, but at the back end we were really good.
“I think Shane was exceptional. It’s great to have him in the side. Both he and Jimmy were exceptional. We didn’t execute with the ball well in the end. We haven’t done that for a few games.” (Eurosport)
