Police destroy ganja field on Lucky Island

 

POLICE destroyed yet another cannabis sativa (marijuana) field, this time at Lucky Island, Demerara River on Tuesday. A party of policemen conducted a drug eradication operation at Lucky Island in which a one-acre field of about 1,000 marijuana plants, ranging in height from one foot to five feet, was found under cultivation.
The field was destroyed along with a nursery with approximately 5,000 seedlings.
 
However, no one was arrested.
 
This month alone police conducted several drug eradication exercises when they destroyed a number of marijuana fields and camps and arrested a few persons.
