THE Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) will conduct a workshop, for local businessmen, on energy efficiency, next Wednesday, April 17. The venue is Red House in High Street, Kingston, Georgetown and the duration is from 08:30 hrs to 16:30 hrs. Those taking part have to pay a fee of US$100.00 that includes the cost of lunch, training materials and a certificate.
The purpose of the exercise is to help participants measure quality, demand and consumption of power quickly, identify areas that can be enhanced, devise methods for conservation, find international networks to source information and equipment and locate potential sources of alternative energy, a release said.
The seminar is part of phase two of the Energy Efficiency Rating Surveys Programme, which was initiated last year by GMSA, with support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which provided 70 percent of the funds required.
The GMSA release said the main resource person for the coming event will be Mr. Eaton Haughton, a Jamaican, who is an international energy consultant specialising in energy systems optimisation and the application of alternative energy sources.
Interested business people should contact the organisers at the GMSA Secretariat, Lot 157 Waterloo Street, also in the city on telephone numbers 223-7405/6 or by e-mail at gma guyana@yahoo.com, as early as possible.
The energy efficiency project was crafted by GMSA, in 2010, to assist companies in the manufacturing and services sectors to utilise their applications, with energy conservation being the prime focus, the release explained.
