T&T lose six frontline players for regional championships

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Trinidad and Tobago have lost the services of six key frontline players as they prepare to resume their campaign in the regional four-day championships this weekend.

Five players – Dwayne Bravo, Kevon Cooper, Kieron Pollard, Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine – are leaving the region this week to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The sixth unavailable player is left-handed batsman Darren Bravo who has asked to be excused.
Meantime, Denesh Ramdin has returned to lead the Trinidad and Tobago team against Jamaica in the fifth round of the regional four-day competition starting on Saturday.
Ramdin is joined by Shannon Gabriel. They have both returned from West Indies duties against Zimbabwe.
The national team, scheduled to leave for Jamaica today, was chosen Monday night after a 10-wicket win over the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC).
They will oppose Jamaica in a Super-50 clash next week Thursday following their four-day fixture.
The Trinidadians, who lost their opening match to leaders Windwards, have since rebounded with a string of victories to be tied for second in the league with Jamaica.
A win for T&T against Jamaica would secure them a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Meantime, all-rounder Sherwin Ganga has been chosen on the national team for the Super50 clash against Jamaica.
Ganga has not played for Trinidad this season but has been in good form with both bat and ball for PowerGen in the domestic cricket league.
The full 4-Day team is: Denesh Ramdin (capt.), Lendl Simmons, Adrian Barath, Kjorn Ottley, Jason Mohammed, Yannick Ottley, Imran Khan, Stephen Katwaroo, Yannic Cariah, Rayad Emrit, Shannon Gabriel, Kavesh Kantasingh, Marlon Richards and Amit Jaggernauth.
