THE Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce has teamed up with the Guyana Karate College to make this Easter Weekend an exciting and memorable one for Guyanese at large along with tourists and visitors, with the hosting of the first Annual International Food and Drink Festival at the Everest Cricket Club Ground on Saturday March 30th 2013.
This event is intended to be the largest culinary event in Guyana and is being held with the support of the diplomatic community in Guyana and which has on board all the major beverage companies in Guyana including Ansa McAl, Banks DIH, Caribbean International Distributors Inc, Continental Industries and Demerara Distillers Limited.
With telecommunications giant Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Co. Ltd, partnering with the event’s hosts, patrons who bring along their national identification and proof of address to the event will have the opportunity to sign up for and begin utilising the newly introduced Mobile Money Service.
World on a Plate
With the participation of nearly twenty countries, food fanatics shall be in for a world treat. From the rich diversity of our own Guyanese cuisine, patrons will be able to tease their taste buds and taste what the world has to offer at the festival. Included at this event shall be delicious and healthy choices from the Mediterranean, exquisite selections from European cuisines and tastes from Asian and North American cuisines.
Beer and Cocktail Carnival
This festival will specialise in rare, hard to find, exotic beers from over 16 countries that will be on hand, hailing from all over the planet. Some are from right here such as Banks, Carib and Stag beer from Guyana, Trinidad the Caribbean and Latin America, but most of them are from Europe, Asia, and Australia. Patrons will be encouraged to stroll the festival grounds with a cold one whilst meeting friends and acquaintances.
For others, what better way to celebrate the holiday weekend, than with a nice cocktail drink. There will be some killer cocktails from all over the world, to help celebrate with style (and make sure that glass is never empty). The International Cocktail Bar at the Festival which is being hosted through the kind courtesy of the Demerara Distillers Limited, will have a main ingredient in the cocktails serve as liquid gateways to the world, the internationally famous El Dorado rum and the liquers and vodkas of DDL.
Eat to the Beat Concert
Get ready for eating, drinking, and then pumping up the volume as the evening wears on, and partying to rollicking live music of all genres on stage at the ‘Eat to the Beat’ Concert which is a major element of the International Food and Drink Festival.
The Eat to the Beat open air Concert which is free with admission to the International Food and Drink Festival and which takes place throughout the festival, will see popular artistes from Guyana and also from some of the participating countries.
Guests nibbling and sipping their way around the world’s culinary showcase will see performers from many countries weave music, dance, karate, comedy and other acts into the festivities.
This is in addition to DJ’s from popular PowerTech Sounds spinning the best music and hottest rhythms till early in the morning will make the festival a fun filled destination for the Easter Weekend to party till you can party no more.
