ANTICIPATING getting the go-ahead to begin operations at their just completed state-of-the-art fuel farm, management of Air Services Ltd has retained the services of Mr. Ravin Appadoo, an internationally recognized expert in fuel matters from Aviation Fuel Solutions of Canada, to conduct a three-day training course on aviation fuel handling and quality control.
The course will be held daily from 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs from March 16 to 18, 2013, and seven senior employees from ASL, two representatives each from the Guyana Energy Authority (GEA) and the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) will attend the course, to be held in the ASL Training Room at the Ogle Airport, ECD.
Mr. Ravin Appadoo is an engineer by profession, and has had a rich and diverse career in the airline industry. He managed the fuel and insurance portfolio of an international airline for many years, and pursued his career at IATA, where he was responsible for all industrial, commercial and technical fuel matters, including the drafting and compilation of various industry guidance materials and procedures’ manual on aviation fuel.
He also acted as secretary of two influential groups within the industry — the Aviation Fuel Working Group and the International Fuel Quality Pool.
Mr Ravin Appadoo’s expertise in aviation fuel matters is recognised in the industry. He is a regular speaker at aviation fuel forums, and has contributed a number of papers in various industry publications.
Ravin has been deeply involved in fuel efficiency initiatives at both IATA and Air Mauritius. At IATA, he was the project manager for the Fuel Action Campaign launched in 2004. He kick started many of the fuel savings’ initiatives currently underway. He has also been providing consultancy services in this area to many second and third tier airlines worldwide.
At Air Mauritius, Ravin was the senior manager for fuel, having direct responsibility for the fuel conservation program he designed and set up.
Ravin is also an aviation risk practitioner, having designed and implemented risk management programmes for airlines. His career as a Fuel Risk Manager at an international airline, and Assistant Director of Fuel Services at IATA, where he was tasked to develop risk management approaches for small and medium-size carriers, has provided him with necessary insights, approach, and tools to assist airlines in need of risk management expertise.
Ravin teaches the popular IATA Aviation Fuel Management course. He has already conducted dozens of such seminars worldwide in the areas of airline fuel efficiency, fuel specifications and handling, financial risk management and fuel hedging, and airline cost management.
He also majors in the fields of Aviation Insurance, Environment, Ground Handling, Procurement and International Negotiations, and also Safety Management.
