THE Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO), youth arm of the People’s Progressive Party (PP), along with Sarwan Jagnarine, a member of the Health Committee of the PYO held a blood drive on Main Street, Georgetown on Friday. A member of the National Steering Committee, Mr. Chattergoon Jadoopat, in a brief interview with the Guyana Chronicle said that this programme is one of the planned activities for the month of remembrance for the father of the nation, Dr. Cheddi B. Jagan.
First lady Mrs. Deolatchmie Ramotar, who also participated, donated the first unit of blood.
In a discussion with a donor, he explained that he was on another errand and saw the blood drive and decided to participate. He said it is his first time he is donating blood and it feels great to help to save someone else’s life.
Around 15:00 hours a count of 15 units were donated, and most of it was from people passing by. The successful blood drive started at 12:00 hours and concluded at 17:00 hours. (Geeta Rampersaud)
