CABINET joins with the “progressive forces” in the world today in celebrating the 2013 International Women’s Day that has as its theme, “A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women”, Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr Roger Luncheon said yesterday. At his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President, Georgetown, Luncheon observed that domestically and internationally the achievements of Guyanese women are chronicled in the world of gender.
“The achievements of women in the world today reflect gains and losses, the net results of which are the progressive achievements, tangible improvement, in the lives and the welfare of women.
“In Guyana, progress continues inexorably as the state exerts considerable political will in championing the cause of women and gender equality,” Luncheon asserted.
