Bartica Regatta 2013… Preparations feverishly ongoing to stage unforgettable event

REGATTA fever is gripping Bartica, and this year’s event promises to be one of the most memorable of this year’s calendar of activities.

The Regatta Committee has sought the assistance of local Barticans, the DC Promotions, to ensure that events are staged without a hitch.
The sheer magnitude of what the Bartica Regatta has become over time, is somewhat intimidating, especially in its celebratory significance.
The Gateway to the Interior, as Bartica is commonly referred to, sits on the fork of the mighty Essequibo and the calm Mazaruni Rivers, subtly hinting at the hidden treasure of its diverse cultural mix of peoples and folklore.

Contestants of this year’s Ms Bartica Regatta

The annual Easter Regatta advertises its celebratory spirit in the form of various events; in this year’s line-up of which are the football tournaments, a gospel concert, an international artiste’s mega concert, and of course the crown jewels, the Miss Bartica Regatta Pageant and the water races — swimming and speed boat racing.
The football festivities kick off from March 24th and will last until March 28th. Patrons will witness teams drawn from a nationwide pool compete for top honours.
The Gospel Concert and International Artiste’s Mega Concert are set for March 29 and 30 respectively, and promises a variety of lyrical pleasures for its attendees.
For the pageant, eight stunning young ladies from all parts of Guyana will take to the stage on March 31 as they vie for the crown of the oldest pageant in Guyana’s history.
The water sports, both swimming and speed boat racing, will begin on March 31, and continue unto April 1st with massive races among highly competitive forces.
This will all boil down to the Beach Throttle Down Party, which, again, will see multiple entertainment, ensuring a fun-filled week.
Aside from collaborating with DC Promotions, the Bartica Regatta Committee has also teamed up with Fashion Queen Sonia Noel, a Bartican herself, who will be spearheading the Miss Regatta Pageant as well as lending her expertise in the areas of Events Management and Planning.

The committee will also be launching a magazine as a hallmark of its ongoing success.
