At a meeting held at the Soesdyke Vishnu Mandir, representatives of the various mandirs unanimously requested the sabha’s president, Pt. Reepu Daman Persaud, to form the body on the East Bank.
The Sabha said in a press release that representatives felt this long-overdue step would bring them together to better promote Hinduism and the development of their temples and communities.
According to the release, Pt. Persaud, the executive members of the sabha accompanying him, including Vice-President Parmanand Bhanu, Treasurer Savitri Sukhai, Assistant General Secretary, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, and Executive Member, Michael Seeram, engaged the mandir representatives in open discussion, and elections were conducted.
The persons who were unanimously elected to serve as office bearers in the new praant are Chairman Rajesh Dubraj of Farm/Herstelling Vishnu Mandir, Vice Chairman Baldeo James of Timehri Maha Shakti Kundalini Mandir, Secretary Camille Deoki of Soesdyke Vishnu Mandir, Assistant Secretary Rohani Misir of Coverden Mandir, and Treasurer Devnarine Singh of Soesdyke Vishnu Mandir.
The executive members are Rookmin (Nirmala) Singh of Timehri Maha Shakti Mandir, Amarnauth Mohabir of Hope Mandir, Reyaz Rafeek of Timehri Maha Shakti Mandir, and Kemraj Sewram of Providence Mandir.
The special advisors are Parasram Samaroo of Timehri Maha Kali Mandir, and Dave Singh of the Soesdyke Vishnu Mandir.
The sabha congratulates the new executives of the East Bank Demerara praant, and welcomes them to the Dharmic family. The praant is expected to be participating in the sabha’s programmes, and also to organise activities within the praant, such as Chowtaal Samelan, Praathna Satsangh, and Bacho-ka-Satsangh.
“The Dharmic Sabha looks forward to working closely with the new body, and has no doubt that the new praant will contribute greatly to the Hindu community and the country as a whole,” the release concluded.
