Fazia’s Collection/WDFA U-17 Girls Inter-School – Heywood’s 7 powers Leonora into final … Uitvlugt and Zeeburg battle for place

ABIOCE Heywood created history on the West Demerara when she alone accounted for seven goals as she led Leonora Secondary into the final of the inaugural Fazia’s Collection/West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Inter-Secondary School competition.

Playing the first semi-final at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground yesterday, Heywood headlined her school’s solid showing as they whipped St John’s 10-0 to keep their unbeaten record and a place in the championship game set for Saturday at the same venue.
Heywood led the demolition, finding the back of the net in the 6th, 32nd, 37th, 42nd, 44th, 49th and 51st minute, as St John’s weres never allowed to get close to the attacking third of their opponents.
The intention was very clear from the outset as Leonora, who had earlier defeated Uitvlugt and West Demerara Secondary Schools in the Group stage, showed that they clearly meant business when Tamica Greene opened proceedings in the 2nd minute.
Shonnette Carroll added one of her own in the 19th minute while the other goal came off the boot of Kimberly Damon in the 46th minute, while Leonora’s win took their overall tally of goals to 12 with one against
The second semi was contested yesterday between the top team in Group ‘B’, Zeeburg Secondary, and the second-placed team in Group ‘A’, Uitvlugt Secondary, where a mouth-watering clash was anticipated.
