NEW Campbellville, Carmel Secondary and Richard Ishmael rallied to huge wins against their opponents yesterday in the Petra/Milo Under-20 Schools’ football competition which was hosted at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
In the opening match Carmel trounced North Ruimveldt 7 – 2 then New Campbellville crushed Central High 8 – 0 and Richard Ishamel trashed Sophia Special School 6 – 1.
Carmel was led by Jamal Hamilton (2nd, 31st, 57th & 59th) who scored a helmet-trick while receiving support from his teammates Wesley Greenidge (24th), Marlon Nedd (45th) and Moses Gritten (47th). Scoring for the opposition was Keron Johnson (9th) and Shermar DeSouza (59th).
Match two saw another helmet-trick being recorded by Shamar Barrow; he scored in the 8th, 14th, 30th and 47th minute. Also scoring for New Campbellville was Keon David (21st, 55th), Shemar Fraser (35th) and Ammonickie Poise (45th).
In the final game, Ray Stanton (19th, 21st & 41st) scored a hat-trick for Richard Ishmael, while Ronaldo Dover, Krisstoff Watts and Orandy Roach scored in the 16th, 44th and 47th minute, respectively. Sophia’s lone goal was scored by Runako Heart in the third minute.
On Saturday, Lodge Secondary gained a walk over from Guyana Education Trust College, Dolphin Secondary and David Rose played to a 3 – 3 draw and Chase’s Academy stunned St. Winifred’s Secondary 5 – 1 in the final match.
A double from Rayan Watson (56th, 70th) for Chase’s Academy along with a goal each from his teammates Stephen Sanchar (35th), Isaiah Reddy (61st) and Carl Semple (64th) powered the side to a win over the opposition. Christopher Sealey scored a consolation goal for St. Winifred’s in the 37th minute.
Prior to that match, Dolphin Secondary and David Rose battled to an entertaining draw that saw the Dolphin team scoring as early as the third minute off the boot of Clinton Clark. David Rose responded the very next minute when Terrence Kayume found the back of the net.
David Rose then took the lead in the seventh minute when Jamal John scored and further made it a two possession game in the 21st minute when John scored again.
Three minutes later Dolphin made it a one possession game with a goal from Toquwan Clark (24th minute).
In the second half, it was the 56th-minute goal from Daniel Griffith that tied it up until regulation time for the teams to share the points.
