Female boxers wing out to Trinidad and Tobago today

TODAY, a team of two Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) female boxers depart Guyana’s soil for Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) where they will represent the country in the Trinidad Open Boxing Championship scheduled to take place tomorrow.

Junior flyweight Akisha Arokium and light heavyweight Teresa London will be accompanied by National coach Wincell Thomas and manager Kesa Chase.
London is the daughter of former female World Champion Pamela ‘Grenade’ London. She enters the competition with an unblemished record that stands at nine wins.
According to the GABA president, Steve Ninvalle, this is the first time a complete female team will represent Guyana since the last World Championships in 2010 in Barbados. He said this is testimony that this year’s focus is mainly on amateur boxers and female boxers.
Yesterday, the association received a monetary donation from Household Plus on Regent Street to assist in getting the boxers to T&T.
