COORDINATOR of the National Commission on the Rights of the Child, Mrs. Shirley Ferguson has died.

A Youth Media Guyana posting on Facebook yesterday, announcing Mrs. Ferguson’s death, stated:  “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a pioneering advocate for the rights of children in Guyana – Mrs. Shirley Ferguson, who died today after a brief illness.
“She was the Coordinator of the National Commission on the Rights of the Child (now the Child Rights Division) and helped to mould YMG from our inception. She was our guide, our mentor, our advocate and will be deeply missed.”
“Our heartfelt sympathy to her husband and family in this time of grief. Rest In Peace Mrs. Ferguson.”
