AGRICULTURE Minister and former Health Minister Dr. Leslie Ramsammy was yesterday rushed to the Caribbean Heart Institute at the Georgetown Public Hospital, after he reportedly collapsed in his office at Regent and New Garden Streets in Georgetown.

Up to late yesterday afternoon, the minister was being monitored by doctors at the institute.
Late yesterday afternoon a close aide to the minister told this publication that he was likely to be discharged before midnight. The aide also said that the minister was alert and was responding to the few visitors allowed at his bedside.
Dr. Ramsammy’s condition was not considered to be life threatening according to an official who spoke to the doctors attending to the minister.
Yesterday, Health Minister Bheri Ramsarran visited Minister Ramsammy at the institute.
Also gathering at the health institution were staff members of the Health and Agriculture Ministries as they sought to get word on the condition of the senior public official.

Yesterday, also, the Georgetown Public Hospital issued a release, stating, “The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation wishes to advise that Honourable Leslie Ramsammy, Minister of Agriculture, has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital. His condition is being closely monitored”
Minister Ramsammy is regarded as one of the more approachable public servants, as well as being one of the more hard working ministers of the government.
