POLICE are looking for a gunman, who shot and injured a dance instructor at about 20:30 hrs on Friday night in Sophia.

The victim, Ryan Baird, 24, of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown was walking along the roadway at 14th Field, Section ‘A’, Sophia, when a man rode up alongside on a bicycle and shot him to his abdomen and escaped.
Ryan Baird has been admitted to hospital for medical treatment and was still hospitalized up to press time.
Baird was reportedly robbed of his cell phones after leaving dance classes at the Sophia School.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident at about 08:00 hrs on January 26, 2013, miner Mark Wilson, 42, of Supply, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was in a mining pit at Puruni Backdam, Cuyuni, when it caved in on him.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Hospital.
Investigations are in progress.
