SHEMROY Gomes, of Lot 59 ‘BB’ Eccles, East Bank Demerara and Guy Merrill, of Lot 74 Garnett Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, charged with break and enter and larceny. They both pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that, on December 17, they broke and entered the restaurant and bar of Estwick Northe and stole a quantity of items valued a total of $1.7M.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail based on the prevalence and seriousness of the crime, and that the defendants may not return to court if granted.
The Prosecutor said an accomplice of the defendants is on the run and asked that a warrant be issued for Raymond Skeete, who was involved in the commission of the crime.
The defendants were remanded to prison until February 22.
