Nothing being done to enhance development of local writers

YEARS ago, I recall the then National History and Arts Council, offering courses in Creative Writing. I participated in one of those courses facilitated by the late Dr. A. J. Seymour and Mr. Sheik Sadeek. Dr. Seymour later requested permission to publish one of my poems, “The Memories” in a publication titled “Independence 10.” I gave him permission to do so.
Beyond that, I have never seen any of my efforts published, except in the newspapers.
GUYFESTA was introduced and I am proud to recall that I gained a Certificate of Merit for a short story I had submitted. I recall my name appearing on the front page of the Chronicle highlighting the award.
Under the current Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, I have witnessed almost nothing being done to enhance development of local writers. Perhaps, I am wrong and the ministry can prove me wrong.
