Caracas (Prensa Latina) EXPRESSIONS of support for the Venezuelan government are seen today around the whole country, with actions beyond the borders of this capital city.
Besides thousands of people gathered on Thursday in front of Miraflores Palace, the Executive’s headquarters, there were similar activities in other Venezuelan states to show support for the cabinet of the president re-elected on October 7, 2012.
Venezuelan media outlets (public and private) reported a multitudinous rally with participation of representatives from 24 countries.
Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Jose Mujica (Uruguay), Evo Morales (Bolivia) and Desi Bouterse (Suriname) were heading a list that included foreign and other ministers and from Latin America and the Caribbean.
Other expressions of support came from countries as Russia, China and Brasil, and political movements from Italy, Spain and others.
Faced with that panorama, some opposition sectors kept their stance, questioning the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) in reference to the health condition of President Hugo Chavez and continuity of functions of the government.
Representatives of what they call Democratic Unity Table (MUD) called for a demonstration on January 23, aimed at defending full validity of the Constitution.
That stance is in contradiction with the reality, because a poll by a specialized authority revealed that 65 percent of the population supported the decision by the Supreme Court of Justice.
Meanwhile, Executive Vice President Nicolas Maduro warned about the possibility of taking strong legal actions against those who try to disregard the government.
